CHAPTER 2. Launching your drone
1. Launch Area Clear
Before takeoff:
- Confirm the takeoff and landing zone is clear
- Ensure no people, animals, or vehicles are within the immediate launch area
- Check for overhead obstacles such as trees, wires, or structures
- Face the aircraft in the planned departure direction
2. Signal & Control Confirmed
With the aircraft powered and ready:
- Confirm strong controller-to-aircraft connection
- Verify live video feed is stable if applicable
- Check controller response to stick inputs
- Ensure no warning messages are active on the app or screen
3. GPS & Home Point Verified
Before lifting off:
- Confirm adequate GPS/satellite lock
- Verify the home point is correctly recorded
- Check Return-to-Home settings once more
- Make sure compass heading appears normal
4. Motors & System Ready
Immediately before takeoff:
- Arm or start motors correctly according to manufacturer procedure
- Listen for unusual motor sounds or vibration
- Confirm propellers are spinning normally
- Recheck battery level and flight mode
5. Controlled Takeoff
At launch:
- Announce takeoff if others are nearby
- Lift off slowly and steadily
- Hover at a low safe height for a few seconds
- Check stability, control response, and position hold before proceeding
